Question #

I have a business idea and need to contact the Venetian Hotel and Casino. I have researched the owner Sheldon Adelson but haven't had any luck on how to contact him. The only way I could possibly get a hold of him is through the hotel's Human Resource office. I also don't know if E-mail is a proper way of contacting him initially. So the question is what is the proper etiquette for a business proposal and is E-mailing a valid channel of communication for this?

The president of our incorporation opened a seperate bank account with the same incorporation without the consent of the board of directors and just deposited $50,000 into it from a customer order from our company. He doesnt know that we know about it. I want to know if he has a legal right to do that before we press charges on him. He has already used up most of the money he deposited, we believe, and we need to know what we need to do from here to catch this guy.

I am back again for a new start with your awesome company's support. I used you service last year and am ready to give it a shot again. Thanks for the past support and help that all of you do at youaskus.com. The questions are based on the Human Resource Management field: 1. This situation involves a new employee being trained by an employee who has been with the firm for several years. When putting together their expense vouchers for a recent business trip, John (the new employee) notices some discrepancies between his expense voucher and that of his superior, Ed. John faces some serious questions as to what to do. Should he report the expense padding? Should he simply talk to Ed? Is this simply the norm? 2. Lavonda has a huge dilemma. She has decided to report the sexual harassment and uncomfortable working environment due to Allen and their relationship. Is she following the company's business practices? Could there be ramifications for Lavonda if she exposes him and their relationship? 3. One of the key parts of a company's hiring practice includes background checks (including criminal checks) for key personnel. Is it acceptable for the HR Manager to decide not to require one for a new employee and, if not, how do other HR personnel approach this matter?

I am stuck on this question and this refers to Business Ethics. Discuss the following statement with reference to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations: "This is my business ... I founded it ... I can hire and fire whomever I choose without interference from the government."

I am back again with some Martha Stewart questions as follows: 1. Stewart repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, despite her conviction and failed appeal, yet she still says she did nothing wrong? Is this right strategy on a business ethics stand point? 2. Did Stewart's actions justify the subsequent sentence to her and those around her? 3. Compare other excecutives' wrongdoings versus Stewart's. Why MSLO is or is not different from what happened at companies such as Enron and Tyco?

I am needing to check to see if you can help me with  questions based on business ethics. Thanks for the outstanding service that you have provided to me for the last two years. 1. Discuss the distinctions between the rule and act categories of utilitarianism and deontology. Why do you think some people evaluate the morality of an action on the basis of the action itself, whereas others evaluate it in terms of its conformity to particular moral principles or rules of conduct? 2. A recent ethical issue is manufacture and marketing of so-called orphan drugs, which are required for survival by persons with certain very rare diseases. Because the market and profit potential for such drugs is so small, pharmaceutical manufactures may prefer not to research, develop, and market them. Why is the manufacture and marketing of orphan drugs an ethical issue for business? 3. If anyone is hurt by unfair competition among businesses, it would seem to be primarily other businesses. What ethical issues affecting consumers and society as a whole are created by unfair competition? 4. How can teaching business as a game create ethical issues? 5. Explain why there is no one 'right' moral philosophy for making business decisions? 6. Compare and contrast the concepts business ethics and social responsibility. 7. List three business problems, situations, or opportunities that you believe are ethical issues. Explain why? 8. The opinions of society, as expressed through legislation, can change over time, and different courts and government legislatures may take different views about the acceptability of specific business activities. Why is this so? 9. Society seems to expect a lot from business. Do you think that it is possible to balance profit and other business objectives with the goals and desires of society? Why or why not? 10. Discuss the relationship between the organizational and individual factors that influence ethical decision making in business.
